Director of Development
The Director of Development is responsible for designing, leading, and executing all fundraising and advancement initiatives for Bellesini Academy. Our school relies entirely on foundation grants and individual donors to support our rigorous academic program. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a motivated, high-energy individual who has self-confidence, a passion to serve others, and the business smarts to create a plan to fund our $2M+ annual budget.
One visit with a student at Bellesini will convince the right candidate that they have found their mission.
Fundraising and Advancement
- Develop a fundraising strategy that includes the pursuit of existing and new foundation grants, lead our annual individual giving initiative, and coordinate and plan the annual school Spring Gala.
- Initiate a major gift campaign, targeting, engaging, and stewarding large-scale donors.
- Comfortable with grant writing, managing the grant report process, and tracking the use of supplied grants.
- Build a relationship with every Trustee to gain their strongest possible engagement and enable and empower them to become fundraising ambassadors for the school.
- Cultivate relationships with Foundation Boards and major donors. Create opportunities for prospective donors to visit the school and interact with students (i.e., Career Days, student tours, Science Fair judging, etc.).
Communications, Marketing & Promotion
- Talent for crafting compelling narratives about the school’s impact. Confidence in representing the school at events and in the community.
- Promote the school’s success in the press and on social media. Make Bellesini Academy a highly recognized, well-regarded, and admired educational institute in the Greater Lawrence community.
- Strengthen Bellesini’s relationship with our partner church, St. Mary the Assumption.
- Learn about and promote the successes of Bellesini alumni. Engage alumni in the school community to inspire and motivate students and staff.
Data Analysis and Management
- Manage donor database and evaluate donor giving trends to identify retention and growth opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all fundraising regulations and financial controls.
Required Qualifications
- Three or more years of experience in fundraising roles.
- BA/BS required; Master's preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly desired.
Director of Afterschool program development
Position Summary:
The Director of Afterschool Program Development plays a vital role in advancing Bellesini’s mission by leading the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of all afterschool programming. This includes enrichment, academic support, recreation, and mentoring for students in grades 5–8 during the extended school day. The director ensures that the afterschool program reflects Bellesini’s values, supports students' holistic development, and fosters a nurturing, structured environment aligned with the school’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Design & Implementation
- Design and lead a mission-driven, engaging afterschool program that supports students academically, socially, and emotionally.
- Develop a range of activities (e.g., homework help, STEM, arts, athletics, spiritual development) that reflect the school’s holistic education model.
- Maintain daily schedules, oversee programming logistics, and ensure consistency with the extended-day structure.
Staff Supervision & Development
- Recruit, supervise, and mentor part-time staff, volunteers, and enrichment providers.
- Lead ongoing training to ensure all staff promote a safe, respectful, and mission-centered environment.
- Student Support & Formation
- Create a structured, supportive climate in after-school hours that promotes discipline, character, and leadership.
- Collaborate with the academic and counseling teams to monitor student progress and intervene as needed.
- Foster strong relationships with students and families to encourage participation and engagement.
Partnerships & Community Engagement
- Cultivate partnerships with local organizations to enrich programming opportunities
- Coordinate with volunteers, alumni, and local groups to offer workshops, mentorship, or service-learning opportunities.
Program Assessment & Compliance
- Track attendance, behavior, and engagement data to assess impact and improve programming.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, child protection policies, and licensing standards.
- Prepare program reports for leadership and stakeholders as needed.
Budget & Resource Management
- Manage the afterschool program budget, ensuring resources are used effectively.
- Collaborate with advancement staff on funding proposals, donor engagement, and grant reporting related to afterschool initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Youth Development, or related field desired.
- 2–5+ years of experience in youth programming, afterschool leadership, or middle school education.
- Strong commitment to Catholic values and mission-driven education.
- Experience working with urban youth, preferably in underserved communities.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to build trust and relationships with students, staff, and families.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Experience coordinating volunteers and community partnerships.
Work Schedule and Compensation:
- Extended-day schedule (typically 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM), with occasional weekend commitments.
- School-year calendar with potential summer programming responsibilities.
- $35/hour
